About this Event
Cardiff BookTalk is pleased to invite you to a special big event on Virginia Woolf’s ‘Orlando’ (1928). Inspired by Woolf’s friend and lover Vita Sackville-West, the novel has been described as “the longest and most charming love letter in the English Language”.
Joining us as speakers will be Cardiff University’s Dr Meredith Miller and Josie Cray, Bristol University’s Annie Strausa, and Cambridge University’s Dr Claire Nicholson, Chair of the Virginia Woolf Society. Each of our speakers will present a 10-15 minute talk, after which there will be an opportunity for audience questions and discussion.
This event – larger than usual – is co-hosted by Cardiff University’s Assuming Gender, who will be putting on a screening of the 1992 film ‘Orlando’ after the talks.
The main event at 6.30pm will be preceded by a reception with tea, coffee, and biscuits at 6.00pm in Cardiff University’s John Percival Building. The event will take place in Room 2.01; there will be signposts to direct you from the main entrance.
Tickets are free and all are welcome – RSVP via Eventbrite now!
