She talks about the contemporary context of The Handmaid’s Tale and why she thinks it became a bestseller. Her discussion of eighties’ politics is incredibly sharp, and from our point of view at the end of 2019, this is an interesting window into the past – an insightful look into the logic that underpins her classic novel.
